Want A Home Adventure?

September 21, 2012 by Molinda Goforth Leave a Comment

Begin with the end in mind.  It seems I have traveled a long distance in my mind to get to a place where I can map out where I am going!

Tennessee will be home!  Debt free from consumer debt comes first!  Land is to be found during this process.  I feel an excitement like it is the first day of spring.

In the fall things go to sleep.  I am putting my stress to sleep.  Will wake up to a crisp new beginning!

Travel with me, we are in for a joyful ride.

What Is Possible?

Since June 1st I have traveled over 5,000 in search of a place to call home.

Results:  The car needs tires.  The car needs a brake repair.  I need a place to live!  My dreams are vivid of the little house.   Bills come and I am adamant I want to be debt free.

So,  the questions are :  Where am  I going to live?  Second question:  How will I pay for my residence and pay the consumer debt?

It is time to take action.  If you were faced with the situation of  no monetary resources and no where to live other than with friends, what would you do?  What possibilities would this situation create in your life?

Most Important Part of The Trip, Uncle T.J.

July 27, 2012 by Molinda Goforth Leave a Comment

There is a highlight for every trip.  This trip has a happy one.  In Keavy, Kentucky I stopped to see my Uncle T.J.

He is a Favorite and actually the only living Uncle.  Since he stayed with us from the time I came home from the hospital until I was around 3 years old, I developed a special bond with him,

His house is always fun  Four wheelers abound for play.  Flowers border the house and inside the smell of home cooked meals makes my mouth water.

He and his lovely wife Edith always share stories from the past.  My mind is full of happy memories of hours I spent with TJ.

After this visit, there will only be a few hours left of my original plans for this trip.  Keavy is a possibility for home.  Six Days on the Road and I may make it home tonight!

Solaleya Homes

These homes are amazing.  This company designs two round homes with elegant lines, lots of light definitely for the future!

Prices start from 45,000.  This is their guest cottage, which is my idea of a little home.  Top of the line values are in the 890,000 range.  Luxury abounds throughout.  Also, the homes are designed to be earthquake and hurricane resistant.

Adding the cost of transporting, zoning and land this little house still exceeds the budget I want too work with.  Visit their site though for an exciting tour of the floor plans.

I am consulting with a friend to see how feasible it is to build conventional but allowing the means for solar to be added.  I would love to learn more from this company!

Is This The House in The Wildwood?

He (she) enjoys true leisure who has time to improve his (her) soul’s estate.
~Henry David Thoreau—

With a little house there will be more time to improve the soul’s estate, less time for cleaning, maintenance, buying decor, dusting decor, useless waste of ones time.

This picture and quote came from the Tiny House Post from Echo’s of Love.  We are almost ready to wind up our tour of little houses and move on to the one for me!  Maybe you will want one too.

House With a Past Life!

Just for fun, I want to take a break and look at the big homes.  Should I ever own one of these, I would still need to sleep, eat, enjoy the bathroom and cry about the mortgage payment.

An alternative to that would be to win the lottery and pay cash for it!  This home used to be a silo.

Listed on Zillow for $750,000 it is an abrupt detour  from the little houses we have visited.

Think about how many little houses you could build for 750,000.00.

I believe there is a place and a season for large  homes.  This one is a beautiful

transformation and productive conversion of a building that would have become obsolete.

Idaho Bridge House

This little shelter intrigued me mainly because of the location.  My little granddaughter lives in Boise, Idaho.  Soon, I plan to visit her and I want to stop by and see this little Idaho Bridge House.

Presented from the Tiny House Blog comments were deleted because apparently some were negative.  I think it inspires me to look around for unusual dwellings from which to work.

The actual shelter inspires a note of how to build a get-away for the writer, artist or maybe a play  house.  What do you think?

Is it time to shift our thinking to small houses in future time?  My future is now.  What do you see in your future?

Sears & Roebuck House

I was so disappointed last night when the lady who had invited me to see the Sears Catalog house called and asked if we could postpone the visit.

It is close to dark when I get in from my “job” but I will try to go by and get a picture of the outside. I can’t wait to learn the history.  I think I understood that the man who ordered the kit is still living and perhaps I can get an interview with him  Maybe I am dreaming.  I will keep you posted.  In the meantime…..

House to Really Go See!

Tonight I will be visiting at the house that was ordered from Sears & Roebuck!

I have so many questions.  When was the house built?  It is close to the beach and I know it survived a tsunami as the water came down town, 3 blocks beyond where this house sits.

I have been told there is not any insulation in the house.  The winds are frigid here.  Alright, I will stop speculating and report to you with facts and pictures tonight.

Discovery..Sears & Roebuck Mailorder House

March 6, 2012 by Molinda Goforth 1 Comment

Yesterday,  I discovered there is a house here in Seaside that was ordered from Sears when they were doing the mail order houses!  Amazing!

Wednesday evening, I have the opportunity to visit.  I am eager to share more details.

I shared with you a few days ago about the Sears and Roebuck homes.  It was exciting for me to “discover” them, like finding a hidden diamond.

The path to this house was revealed when I visited  a gift shop here that has intrigued me for a bit.  So, I went in to find something unique for my daughter-in-law and my granddaughter.  A beautiful lady assisted me in finding some awesome gifts.  She is an artist who recently moved to Seaside from California.  She commented,  was when I first moved to Seaside, ” I lived in a house that was ordered from Sears & Roebuck!”

There is a story here!  Stay tuned to hear all about it.
