Did The Chicken or The Egg Come First?

January 8, 2013 by Molinda Goforth Leave a Comment

When starting a new project thoughts seem to mingle too much. Three words will be important for this project.  They are in order Faith, Focus and Finish.

You are so invited to travel along with me as I begin the construction of home.  First, it seems I need a plan for how to fund the house.   I am starting  with a very limited income, a lot of debt, a house full of furniture in storage

Faith:  I am looking for property this week and next.  By the end of January, my goal is to find a suitable tract of land.

Come along, let’s go shopping. As with the chicken and the egg, the question for me today, was do I wait for the money in hand or shop for land with Faith.   Faith and I are going to look at land!

Are We Having Fun?

Time seems to fly when you are having fun!  I am having too much fun.

Not sure how I let 6 days lapse before writing.  Just noticed it is gone!

I have been reading the Four Hour Chef and applying the learning principles to several areas of my life.

Each day has assigned time to read the Bible in order to read it through in a year.  In thought process with the Four Hour Chef, I am accelerating the time.  I have started a new Job to help fund my little house project and pay current bills.

This week I start the building process for my little house.

Along with my personal project I am in process of confirming two locations for my How To Build A little House workshop!

Stay tuned or join me live at the workshop.

Happy New Year!

It’s a new canvas.  I received the most wonderful gift for Christmas.  It is The Four Hour Chef by Tim Ferriss.  Hint:  It isn’t all about cooking.  I am motivated to accelerate in 5 areas of my life.

  1. My relationship with God
  2. Work to balance my budget
  3. Work to fund my house
  4. Start and finish building home
  5. Habits that support a balanced lifestyle!

Want A Little House By the Sears Model?

January 1, 2013 by Molinda Goforth Leave a Comment

My goal for the year of 2012 was to build a little house.  The most intriguing research for me was the kit homes offered by mail from Sears and Roebuck and Montgomery Ward.  This picture is of  a house ordered from Sears.  It is located in Winterhaven, Florida.

These houses inspired my vision to expand perhaps to the point of again offering a kit for other people’s little homes. That was Plan A.

I give myself permission to change to Plan B.  Plan A did not materialize during 2012.  As others may have to do, my Plan A will shift into a planning stage to enable me to be in the location I want, a financial position to build the house and have fun along the way.

Is It Time For A New Home?

December 26, 2012 by Molinda Goforth Leave a Comment

While we revisit some of the postings of little houses  researched this year, let us visit  the current housing market place.

Is it time for a new home?  In November there was a spike in the price of new homes of 3.6% which was the biggest rise in two years.  What does that mean to you?  If you are in the market for a home it opens the door to think and compare new homes, used homes, a foreclosure or a Little home.

A future article will follow which will provide guideline suggestions for your choice.  In the meantime, please share your opinion as of today.

Need a Platform or a Foundation?

December 17, 2012 by Molinda Goforth Leave a Comment

With the year 2012 coming to an end, I want to be sure to share the resources that have inspired, taught and blessed me this year.

I am an avid student of Michael Hyatt and Ray Edwards.

Ray is a miraculous blessing for me as he is my Son, my mentor, prayer partner  and Teacher!  Read his book, Writing Riches to learn how to master your financial destiny.  I am sure my writing doesn’t reflect that I am a perfect student.  I am a work in progress!

Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World touched my soul.  Read it!

When you are inspired to say or write something that will benefit others, it’s amazing how noisy the world becomes.  Actually, I think it has always been that way, I just wasn’t conscious of the distraction until I read the book!

Get a Platform for your life and work.  Build on a solid foundation.  We will address the importance of a foundation  as related to the little house and to our spiritual growth in the very near future.

The next few days in this year allows me to pull the pieces of my blog together, much as a seamstress would join the pieces to complete a garment.

In February I will be doing a workshop for How To Build your Little House from the foundation up!

In the meantime, think about where your feet are planted at this moment.  This is your present foundation in the world.  Do you feel secure?

Attention Women! Want a Sewing Room?

December 12, 2012 by Molinda Goforth 2 Comments

Sewing Room!

One of my best friends just bought a little building. With a lot of work that she did, and some that was contracted, it converted into a beautiful functional sewing room.

Also, it includes a computer corner. Shirley, the owner is an amazing woman, a breast cancer survivor, hair stylist, who sews, does crafts and is in process of writing a book.  After the holidays we will be completing an interview with her.

In the meantime, enjoy this view of a finished room inside the little building!

She did the insulation, and stapled some of the finish panels to the walls.  It’s easy to heat, has high speed internet and a little loft area!  All of this was completed  on a nifty little budget.

It’s a preview of what a corner of mine may look like…………..Do you like it?
